Lauterbach hydroplane of the 60s Our Hydroplane model is a replica of these typical wood hydroplanes, made of epoxy resin. For example, the Zenoah G300 PUM or electric motors offer suitable engines.

History: Lauterbach Custom Boats Lauterbach Custom Boats was founded in 1947 by Henry Lauterbach in Portsmouth, VA. Henry's son, Larry Lauterbach, began working with him during Larry's last two years of school. After two trips to Vietnam, during which he did construction work with the Navy Sea Bees (1966-1968), he began working full-time in the shop and continuing his career as a driver. Henry retired from boat building in 1986 but continued to build boat trailers and hardware for Larry.

Larry moved the business to Chester, MD in 1990. Between the two, they have built over 250 boats.
